Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky opens ‘state-of-the-art’ facility

On Tuesday, February 22, 2022 the Emergency Shelter of NKY held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and Grand Opening of its new, 10,000-square-foot, “state-of-the-art” facility in Covington.

Located at 436 W. 13th St., ESNK’s new home has 68 beds – double the capacity of its previous facility.  It offers an on-site medical clinic, community partner meeting rooms, guest mail services, self-service laundry, showers, phone charging stations, internet and computer access.

Speaking at the Grand Opening were Kentucky Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman, Kenton County Judge-executive Kris Knochelmann and Drees Homes CEO David Drees, who chaired ESNK’s  capital campaign effort.

The Butler Foundation provided $25,000 in start-up funding to the Shelter in 2008, and has since provided over $150,000 in additional support.  The Corporex Community Initiatives Fund will contribute $200,000 to the capital campaign for this new facility.
